Borisov, 45km ENE of Minsk: [Best played by any method] This hypothetical scenario assumes that Hitler correctly predicted that Byelorussia, not the Ukraine, would be the target of the Russian '44 summer offensive - and listened to his generals' advice to conduct a mobile defense. The 39th Panzer Corps has been reorganized and strengthened into a hard-hitting armored force. The German plan is to fall back behind the Berezina River before the inevitable Soviet offensive begins, and then cut off the Soviet armor after it has crossed the river. The Russians advance cautiously at first, but after prompting from STAVKA, send the 5th Guards Tank Army racing towards Minsk via Borisov - on a collision course with the German 39th Panzer Corps which has been dispatched to the Borisov area in order to prevent the Soviets from establishing a bridgehead before the inevitable arrival of the slower-moving Russian infantry.

This has got to be one of the best Team scenarios I've played. Yes what really helped was most (3) of the players stayed through the whole game with an early break off only occuring on turn #42. Grab 3 more players and go for it... you won't be disappointed!

the russian player really needs to organize and concentrate their forces plus a Phd in logistics/traffic management to manage it all..but its a very fun scenario!

Very interesting scenario. I enjoyed it, but I think it needs improvement in balancing is needed (oppinion shared by my opponent who played as Allies). As is it is moderately pro Allies. From turn 1 Russians have a huge numerical superiority. In the hands of good commander (as my opponent clearly is), this numerical superiority is enough to overrun German defences before reinforcements start arriving. Even with big cats arriving Germans do struggle to counter the numbers. Russians do seem to have so many units that they can afford to soak up any amount of oppFire Germans can set up. Aggressively playing Allies commander will pocket a win. Germans do stand a chance of a draw if Allied commander is very cautious and/or is overwhelmed with a number of troops in his OOB. Two suggestions is to reduce number of Allied units or introduce phased release of the units for Allies to give Germans a shot at gaining some initiative.

A skilled Axis player may play the Allies to a draw, but given well-matched opponents, it looks like Axis victory would be very hard to achieve.

Very difficult one for Germans.

The Allied advantage becomes greater, the greater the players' familiarity with the scenario. Exploiting the southern exit hex is the key to victory, and it appears difficult to impossible for the Axis player to deny this game-winning ploy.

Really no way to stem the red tide in this one! Too much red machine.

Too much Red Tide in this one! Germans are hard pressed to keep this a draw.
