[Viborg and Viborg Bay, Karelian Isthmus Finland.] [H2H] [HIS] [CSL]
On June 20 1944 the defence of the Karelian Isthmus continued to be on a brink of a disaster. The seemingly unstoppable armored Soviet formations continued their advance deeper into Karelian Isthmus, towards the city of Viborg and the excellent road network into inner Finland therefrom.
While the retreating Finnish units had managed to avoid encirclement, the material losses had been high. Worried about the quickly worsening overall situation at Baltic sector, Hitler decided to lift the arms embargo he had ordered on Finland in the beginning of the year.
With reinforcements now arriving to Isthmus in number from quieter sectors of Eastern Karelia, and panzerfausts and schrecks becoming available in great numbers for the first time, the shell shocked defenders begin to again believe in their capabilities of stopping the Soviet advance. Adding their presence into battle, the Stuka's and FW-190s of the Flight Detachment Kuhlmey now stormed the skies, while the German 120th infantry division together with the 303. StuG Rgt embarked to area from the Baltics.
Yet, the Leningrad Front commander Govorov remained confident as his fast moving offensive advanced precisely on schedule. He repeated his order for relentless pressure on the retreating enemy, certain that the final encirclement of the Finnish III and IV Army Corps would take place any day now.
(Player note: please make sure you are familiar with bridging engineers (building medium bridges), construction engineers (building trenches), and loading and unloading crewed boats and ferries.)

Great purpose built scenario for team of 3 per side.

Excellent battle for teamplay

Soviets must push hard with every motorized asset they have, and will learn to fear the fine Finnish infantry.

The balance of the scenario seems to be based largely on the length - fewer turns and the Finns have more of an advantage, and more gives the advantage to the Soviets, who (because of the sheer number of units) will dominate the map wherever they appear. There are also new units present, a highly detailed map, and historical notes. This scenario was obviously put together with great care.

Excellent scene for teamplay. Don't miss out on this one.

A though call for the reds, if they loose to many casualties taking some of the hexes or leave enemy units in there rear they will pay the price.

Finnish infantry is invulnerable and seriously overpowered. A single Finnish MG platoon can stop a company of T34s on a critical road junction. On the other hand the map well made. The scenario needs a extra 25 turns for the Russians to have a shot at doing anything
