Just in the neighborhood, "RedDevil"Looking for some advice..

I've been intrigued by the new release of this Japan 45,  can anyone with some personal exp give me a run down? I'm so tempted to purchase, but don't want a fan boy reply.

Appreciated in advance!, perhaps a game as well?

You can read this AAR

It provides extensive details about each of the landing beaches.

RE: Question?
The reviews still leave a questionable taste in one's decision making... Any owners of this newest release, care to share? Bring forth your likes/dislikes.. the Dev only talks straight up and lets folly become casualties.. A perfect campaign of conquest, simply waiting to be tasted..

RE: Question?
Just my 2 cents.

I enjoy Japan 45. It's a real slugfest though.

Pros:
1. I believe it does a good job of representing the attritional fighting that many historians believe would developed during an invasion of the Japanese mainland.
2. The American forces have a ton of firepower, including rockets, naval guns, massive airpower, and heavy tanks and heavy weapons.
3. The Japanese forces are not as well-trained or well-equipped, but they more than make up for it by using the terrain and their desperation to resist the massive superior firepower of the Allies.
4. It's a real slugfest.

Cons:
1. You have to get your troops off the beach as quickly as possible. Stay on the beach and you'll suffer massive casualties.
2. Don't expect maneuver warfare here. It's a real slog/grind up and down the mountainous terrain. There are tons of small villages, woods, and hills. Don't expect to get from point A to point B very fast.
3. It's a bit like Sicily. However, there are no fragile Italian troops that will help you by melting away into the good night. The invasion forces will have to earn this victory.

I hope this quick summary of my experience helps.

Forgot to ask.. is it geared towards AI vs Japan or will the Japanese fight a good defense?  Defending vs. human has always been a weakness of the Op camp series..

Thanks again,
Dev

RE: Question?
As it is a f̶a̶n̶t̶a̶s̶y̶ hypothetical scenario......it can be whatever the designers want

As such, it can be designed with play balance in mind.

Having said that....the Americans will advance. I have been playing against the Japanese AI, and it is putting up a rugged defence. The terrain helps lots, but you get lots and lots and lots and...um.....lots of toys to help you attack as the Yanks.

So far I am on the second day...the losses were brutal the first day, but I am essentially off the beaches. There are still Japanese soldiers stopping me from pushing too quickly forward, and more importantly...can see/shoot at everyone, so no rest for the wicked.

Unlike Sealion, their other f̶a̶n̶t̶a̶s̶y̶ hypothetical scenario....this one feels okay to play. Unlike Normandy, you will not defeat the AI on the second/third day. The Japanese defend like they knew it would be a computer game, how thoughtful of them!

I bought it because, well....I own them all. But strangely I have really been enjoying playing it.
