What Canadian battalion suffered the most casualties in a single days operations...excluding the units at Dieppe ?
Canadian Black Watch?
1st Canadian Parachute Battalion ?
Black Watch it is. Pretty much wiped out during Operation Spring, the attack on Verrieres Ridge,I believe a day or so after Operation Goodwood.

Pretty quick reply,Kernel t Wink I thought that question would be tougher, probably should have left the Dieppe part out of it.

Congratulations!!!

So what was the number of causalties?
I quote figures here from "Fields of Fire" by Terry Copp. From the official records.
Black Watch Casualties totaled 307,including 118 KIA and 83 POW.
Less than 15 men from the (2?)forward company's returned.

Ist Parachute Battalion was not a bad guess,I have a book,I will have to check and see what the D-Day casualties were.
