These guerrillas in the Soviet army are considered as elite armies ?
In game terms they are not considered elite. In the previous version of SP (WaW) they had the ability to infiltrate so they would have been bt since that ability is removed in WW2 they are considered normal infantry, so the only player that could not take them is a player who is an elite player who can is only allowed to take elite units except when their are no elite units of that type available (such as engineers).

I wanted to make a special rule for partisans but the game didnt give partisans any special abilities so they had to remain as just a form of general infantry. If anyone has any ideas on how to make them special then let me know and I will see if they can be worked in.

WAW IS NOT the previous version of the game.

FYI.

SSI developed the game Steel Panthers.
They then released a new version SP2 and after that another version SP3.

The three SSI games had two differently coded engines, and different scales and also one went through to modern times (IIRC)

THEN...SSI stopped production of the games and handed the code to 2 DIFFERENT groups of developers.

1. Matrix, who created the WAW series.

2. SPCAMO who kept the Steel Panthers (SPww2) name and later, hooked up with Shrapnel Games as a distributor. They created the ww2 version and also the MBT modern war version using the same engine.

Matrix ported the game from DOS to windows early on.

SPCAMO kept their version in DOS for ages and finally ported it to windows platform under the title winSPww2 and winSPMBT.

Though basically the same game (if you just look at the ww2 versions) they are different in MANY respects as to the way their engines work.
Both matrix and SPCAMO have developed the engines a long way from the code they were given....and a long way from eachothers versions.

So...SPCAMO versions ARE NOT derived from WAW version.
They are parallel developments.

Partisan infiltration was never REMOVED from SPCAMO version as it was NEVER THERE in the first place.

I know I have left out some info but I am in a hurry.
Matrix engine comes from original SP? code.
SPCAMO engine comes from original SP? code.
Not sure...doesn't really matter. The point is that they were slightly different.

Also other people have made patches? or other versions based on...WAW series.
H2H is one.
I do not play the series so I am not sure...there are plenty here who know the score on that and can fill in the blanks.

Notice how I have not bagged one version of the game in this post.
My preference is SPCAMO series, obviously.
Everyone has their opinions...I made this post only to clear up confusion caused by Dan.

I knew that, I was just paraphrasing it as I saw, not as accurate but the point was that partisans in the earlier (matrix) version could be set to appear at some point in the game at some point on the map (sorta like paras) while in the SPcamo version they cannot do this and so loose a pretty cool ability which made them a lot more interesting and useful in games.

I dont want to sow confusion either but partisans are a lot more vanilla units now than in the past when they could sneak into the rear.
