This war resulted in some of the heaviest losses for the sides involved of any war in North America, as a percentage of those involved, including civilians - if not the heaviest. What war was it?

Rick
The Mexican Revolution
Nope, not the one I had in mind. This one happened prior to 1800.

Rick
The seven years war in his American front ?
Cortes invasion of Mexico?
No to both. This war saw approximately 1 out of every 14 inhabitants from both sides involved killed, one third of the towns and settlements destroyed.

Rick
You got it David! The Wikipedia info on losses is greatly exaggerated, I believe, but the losses were still huge. The source I used, the book Mayflower (an excellent read, one of the best books I have read in the past few years and I read quite a few), says that there were approximately 70,000 people living in the New England area at the time of the war, for both colonists and Native Americans, and of them 5000 were killed in 14 months of fighting.

By the way, on of my ancestors commanded a militia detachment at one of the towns during the war, Captain Bancroft. No idea if he actually fought, I just have seen him on a list of militia commanders.

Good job, I wondered how hard my question might be.

Rick
When you said Town and Settlements it became easier.

Thanks for the question... I really like this game!
I think, it's a good way to learn new things.
