I think I had 5 flags, but all in all the UK kicked my butt. I attempted 3 landings, two of which were stopped cold by UK arty. Only at the middle town did I make any progress, capturing the town. Other then that, it was a UK show forcing me back whenever I stuck my head out. Darn UK arty! Fiery
Hi Chris! I just sent results to dan, let´s see when he has time to update score charts. Nice game but as it have been said, rather one sided.

If I´d have had enough guts, I´d have thrown all my forces into town in the middle, but I hesitated too long even when it was pretty clear it was going to be central point in this battle. Result was medium victory for UK, it could have been decisive victory. Home guards were surprisingly good as were my rifle squads. In spwaw brits/french have little to none chances against germans in early years. That´s why I was little skeptic about my chances from the beginning of the game.

Germans had surprisingly little artillery support, but it was used wisely since it almost always succeeded to kill or pin down my troops.

I think infantry uses their opportunity fire against bunkers too easily. I had four bunkers at the hill and they effectively collected op-fire from german infantry, even from ridiculous distances. Then I just had to let my MGs and infantry move into firing positions and let things roll, no shots fired towards them. I got casualties in german turns, but my infantry faced opportunity fire only rarely in my turns, thanks for those bunkers.

Is there any german players who has upper hand in this battle?

ROFLMAO

? Smile How well has german assaults succeeded? I´m curious.
Pretty much got my head handed to me, I think British Arty made the difference, anybody have any success with the JU 87's ?
Stukas did as well as all aircraft do in Steel Panthers, RUBBISH. They are not the lethal weapons they are in real life that is for sure.
I had three objectives and about 50 men alive in the end. Stukas did nothing, airforces are not worth their cost in SPWW2.

That sounds a bit surprising compared to my experiences, but maybe there's a "surprise" like someone said earlier that dramatically pushes the game off-balance. Because without that I should have at least a chance of getting a draw. After 14 turns I've got six VLs and 1-3 close enough to be almost certainly grabbed by my Germans. I've also destroyed 40-45 British units and without VL-points the Brits lead maybe 1:1,25 so far but that should change if I manage to begin demolishing the costly defensive installations. The casualities in terms of men are maybe 1:1,5 in British favor as my men are dying like flies in several fronts. But that should even out at least a little before all is said and done.

I'd be interested in hearing the final casualty figures in terms of men in the games that are already finished. At this pace I shouldn't have much more than the 50 that Vesku had alive at the end but Brits shouldn't have many more eitherStir.

At this point I'd call this battle "too close to call" with a slight British advantage.

cheers,

yes, at turn 14 I had such grand illusions also
Sorry to everyone for being out of touch. However I'm still very busy at home and won't be back up to my full turn rate for a while.
I'll make the tournaments my first priority (Sealion, Early War, Europa).
I would really like to get in on Wigam's new show but if I'm being realistic there's no way I'll have time.
Anyway. Expect updates sometime over the weekend but things are going to be slow.
