I've tried emailing the ladder custodian and posting in the "Suggestion Box" forum, but have gotten no response from either.

Just wondering what the process would be to get a game (i.e. a new title) added to this ladder? I was thinking that the SSI game Age of Rifles (Wargame Construction Set 3) would be a good choice -- a lot of folks still swear by it, and it would be cool to drum up some interest and get people playing again.
*bump*

Anyone? Anyone?

Bueller?
I missed this the 1st time around
good for you for bumping it Smile

It's not difficult to add the game to the list of available games already in the Classic wargames section. It will simply share the common armies and ranks already in effect as well as the points system.
However if you are looking to add a complete separate ladder for this game then we have some work ahead of us.
Please let me know which path you are thinking of choosing.

Either continue this conversation detailing your exact desire/wants here in this thread or email me if you'd prefer a less public eye on things Smile
Thanks for the reply. :)

I didn't have a separate ladder in mind, the umbrella heading "Classic Wargames" seems to fit with Age of Rifles nicely. I hear a lot of nostalgia about the game, and I've recently become a moderator of the Yahoo "Age of Rifles" group, which has over 800 members. I think a lot of folks are interested in the game still, so I thought it would be cool to get something going here and maybe get some new folks interested in the game.
what are the victory levels for this game?
are they similar to the ones already listed for the various classic wargames games in the "report a game" page?

the most work, after it is set up, would be for someone to enter the scenarios into the Database for others to record their games with. I do reward the work with ladder bonus points Smile

what sides/armies/ranks are present in this game? are they similar to the ones already in place on the ladder?
Hrm... well now I've gotta go do my homework. I will check through the docs for the victory levels.

As far as the armies and scenarios go... that might be tougher. As it is primarily a "construction set", there are zillions of options. I think the game is sort of the spiritual predecessor to TOAW -- Norm Koger did this one for SSI. It's set in a different era, but it is pretty similar as I understand it.

How are TOAW armies and scenarios handled?
Okay, from the manual. Victory levels in AoR are as follows (high to low):

Brilliant
Notable
Debatable (also Pyrrhic, which is at this same level but with high losses for the victor)

I also assume there is a Draw option, but it is not listed in that section.

(again)

Let me know if you want me to quit being a pest, and I'll quit being a pest. :)
Hey Mirror my profuse apologies again, somethings in RL have taken a toll as well as some event on on area of the club that seem to be needing energy Smile

now I have 4 different Victory levels to score
Can you compare the amount of units and time involved to play a game to something you currently play now?

I would like to keep the reward points close/equal to something that is similar so the efforts of playing time and winning equate.

to example up your confusion Smile
lets say it equals 10 points split between victor and loser so:
Brilliant 9/1
Notable 7/3
Debatable 6/4
Draw 5/5

Now if that works then we need to come up with a Size Modifier (SM) that will "add" points for the # of units involved and the amount of time it takes to play a turn/ game

If a game take 6 months to play, then adding 20 points as a SM is not worth your time IMO, However, 100 might cover it.

This is where we compare this game with the combat mission games as they have been determined to be the base from which we build from.

We're almost there really, I just these comparisons for the data input and we can add your game to the ladder with a minimal effort as I think most of the sides and ranks are already in place?
any input from the ladder custodian on this subject?
