"failed to create direct sound object"

any help would be appreciated.

Make sure you have DirectX installed, and the drivers for the sound board cheers

I know that directx is installed. where do i check for the sound board.

I updated my directx drivers to version 10. Still no luck. What am I missing.
Do you hear any sound when you try to listen to a song for example?Any sound at all?
hello Raz,

Yes i hear the sound when I try playing music and other games. Its just when i when i load PW is when i get the error message.

Technically speaking,Direct Sound is part of DirectX,the part, that handles-surprise,surprise,the sound. It's rather strange that you can hear sound/music in other games but not for this particular one.
One you can still do is run a DirectX test.Click on the Start button, hit Run,and type "dxdiag".This should open the DirectX Diagnostic Tool.Click on the Sound tab,and run the test. That should at least tell if your directx/sound drivers are working ok.
thanks for reply raz,

I tested the sound and it was ok. I could here the sound. Should i just uninstall and reinstall the game?

this was the problem, for future players in any squad battle games:

anyone having sound problems can just remove the setupapi.dll after you install and voila! sound.

I found this in another forum.

thanks
