Just a wee note to let u know that Alasdair Campbell and myself are about halfway through our round 2 battle. So far its looking fairly good fer my guys (the Yanks) but I'm not counting me chickens just yet. Things can change very quickly in this game!

I played the Allies in round 1 and instead of getting creamed, I used the force picks to emphasize the allied strengths. My axis opponent was beaten senseless by this innovative unit selection and usage I presented against him in round 1.

Now as my opponent from round 1 enters into round 3 as allies, he has a leg up on his opponent, because he played against a previous allied opponent that showed him a unique way to win that map as the allied.

We can go around and around all day in circles with contextual circumstances like this, derived from the "first mover advantage" that Fullhouse is quite rightly concerned with.

In any case, this tournament represents what I think is two maps where you will most likely win, and two maps were you will most likely lose. The way the tournament is setup, those who do better (perhaps even while still losing) on the maps that are disadvantaged, and claiming a higher victory on those maps with the advantage will advance to the final round.

IMHO, I do not think that the German can win against a competent player on the 2nd round map in forest hell. The best the German can do is not be completely crushed. The force pick tricks with the Allies on that map are widely known now, so I have no reason not to bluntly say that being capable of picking a battalion of engineers with DC and FT for close range forest combat is going to win against a german player who can only buy two companies of engineers of his own.

Cheers!

Currently I am losing the second round quite badly... through no fault of my own I can tell you.
