Wind DOES affect accuracy as shown by these tests.
I simply logged the Hit chance for each Russian unit in still air,
then went back into the editor and changed the wind to 'Strong' from the north, (ie- blowing from right to left in the pic) and ran it again.

The drift is very slight with typical tank guns, but is predictably more pronounced with the lower-velocity 76mm IG.
(Incidentally I had to put the AT-Rifle further forward because his max range is 800m)

Conclusions -There's nothing we can do about drift anyway, its a fact of life so let's not worry about it.. :)

For statistics freaks here are the test figures -

STALIN hit chance in still air v Pz II/ PzIVH/ TIGER = 32/ 37/ 42
----------------- strong wind ---------------------28/ 33/ 38

T-34/85 ----------still air--------------------------31/ 36/ 42
-----------------strong wind-----------------------27/ 32/ 37

T-34/76 ----------still air--------------------------26/ 30/ 35
-----------------strong wind-----------------------23/ 26/ 31

T-70---------------still air-------------------------26/ 30/ 34
------------------strog wind---------------------- 23/ 26/ 30

T-60--------------still air--------------------------39/ 44/ 49
----------------strong wind------------------------32/ 36/ 41

76IG--------------still air--------------------------19/ 22/ 25
----------------strong wind-----------------------14/ 16/ 18

AT-Rifle----------still air---------------------------28/ 32/ 37
----------------strong wind-----------------------25/ 29/ 34

"How many roads must a man walk down
Before you call him a man?
Yes, 'n' how many seas must a white dove sail
Before she sleeps in the sand?
Yes, 'n' how many times must the cannon balls fly
Before they're forever banned?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind"..

It would be nice if tables would line up correctly on these posts wouldn't it? Smile

from the German POV I imagine the to hit drops are not as much based on the speed of the rounds?

German, Russian, Brit, US etc, ye canna change the laws of physics, namely the faster the velocity, the better the accuracy, wind or no wind..(Although I daresay phasers and photon torpedoes are immune, right Mr. Scott?
"Aye laddie, that they are"..

Hey Randy, aren't my stats displaying properly? Below is how they look on my monitor, so are you saying they display all jumbled up on other peoples monitors?

no problems, they display just like that, but it'd be nice if we could inlay tables and have it all neato

Yes its a nightmare having to make sure tables display properly,I had to keep previewing the top post a dozen times to keep getting all the typing and spacing right.
I thought of 'painting' the stats table into the picture but there wasn't really enough space, and anyway if you put too many words and figures into a pic, its a hassle if you need to edit clarifications or corrections or updates into it at a future date, because you have to delete the old pic from Photobucket and re-paint the mods into a new one, save it back into Pbucket, delete the old pic from the forum and put the new one in with the new code..
By comparison, editing text is so much easier.. ;)
