My EF2 ran fine from the original CD.  I let Jean Francois talk me into playing Belgorod Salient and Kurmark I -- downloadable from the Blitz -- so I applied the 1.02 patch.  Now the new scenarios run fine, but none of the original scenarios on my CD are playable, either solitaire or PBEM.  Some give me an error message, others just display a black screen inside the toolbar frame -- no map.  This seems to have crashed one PBEM scenario that I had going before the patch.

Any advice?

Couple of questions... What version of EF II do you have?  To find this out start a game & look at the tool bar at the top of the screen under "help" (I think).  If you have ver 1.03 you do not need a patch.

I have EF gold (ver 1.03) and I have to convert the map on many of the custom scenarios.  There are many posts with instructions on how to do this.

When I play a version 1.02 w/ my version 1.03 I get a black background w/ 1 sole hex in the middle or a error message.  Does that sound familiar?

You got it.... that black screen with one little hex is what I see.  My version number, off the Help pull-down, 1.02.  Still scratching my head about how to fix it.  Not clear yet on how a v1.02 program cannot read the original scenario maps....

I'm affraid that you "downgraded" your EF2. It is probably now reading all custom scenarios (as they are often designed in 1.02 version) but none of stock ones.

You have two options, reinstal it again as 1.03, or keep as 1.02 (to play custom scns) and in different folder instal 1.03
